The Perfect
ID
Many of us in the
Financial Services Industry could probably make use of a national
secure ID in our authorization and risk management systems. However,
many are up in arms that there is talk of having a national ID card
or number issued to all Americans by October of next year. This ID,
complete with DNA and fingerprints, could well take the place of a
state issued driverís license.
Legislation that
would stop this plan has been introduced in the House by
Representative Ron Paul (R-TX). The bill, The Freedom and Privacy
Restoration Act of 1999, deals with this "grievous intrusion" on
American citizens, notes the billís author.
