we reported on the 7-11 Financial Service Center and the Mr. Payroll
check cashing machine. A new face has entered the automated
check-cashing arena, Greenland Corporation. Greenland has installed
its first production ready, automated check-cashing machine for beta
testing. This machine is a freestanding kiosk with automated payroll
check-cashing capability, full ATM functionality, and money order
dispensing services.
The company said
the beta testing has been successful and testing will continue for a
total of two months. Check Central, a subsidiary of Greenland is
developing the technology. Lee Swanson, CEO and President of Check
Central, stated, "Based on the success of these beta tests, the
company should begin to deliver production units by the end of the
first quarter 1999."
