First Savings Bank
MEMORANDUM
DATE: January 4,
1999
RE: Discontinuance
of Discover
Effective
immediately, First Savings Bank, Merchant Division regret that we
will no longer setup our merchants with Discover through our
corporate office.
It has come to our
attention that Discover/Novus is using the information we submit to
them to directly solicit our merchants for VISA/Master Card
processing. This is resulting in lease problems for our ISA offices,
as well as attrition to our merchant base. FSB's alliance with
Discover was originally conceived to service FSB merchants with
prompt setup for Discover Card processing . Unfortunately, it is no
longer in our best interest to support marketing efforts for
Discover.
We are
recommending that you do not market this card type to your merchants.
However, if a merchant requests Discover, we recommend that you
develop a relationship with the local Discover representative. This
relationship should hopefully insure proper setup for your merchant,.
Please be aware that this call to a Discover representative should
only be made after your merchant has been installed for processing
with FSB, minimizing the potential loss to you and your
business.
Dear Mr.
Green:
Beautiful GSQ
quarterly magazine, very eye appealing and informative. I am making
it my business to read it from cover to cover in the upcoming
months.

Dear
Paul,
I am writing to
you to express Humboldt Bank's sincere thanks for selecting our Web
site as the #1 Bankcard Acquiring Web site as listed on page 22 of
the November 1998 issue of GSQ.
In today's
acquiring marketplace, Humboldt is aggressively committed to
supporting its business partners and the merchants we serve. Our goal
is simple: to provide excellence in transaction processing for our
merchants today... with solutions for the future.
Sincerely
yours,

Dear Green
Sheet:
My company
provides property inspections for the mortgage industry. I am always
looking for new ways to expand our services. What are bankcard site
surveys? Who needs them done? Who can I contact to learn more about
this market? Any information would be helpful.
Thanks, Kevin
Clark, Pacific Field Service, Inc.
P.S. Great Web
site!
Dear
Kevin:
A merchant
application for bankcard processing often involves a "site survey" of
the business. This sometimes includes actual pictures of the business
and inspection of the site to determine that it is, in fact, a
legitimate business operation. ISOs selling bankcard processing often
need to have this service performed, including many of the
organizations listed in the Resource Guide.
Two companies who
currently perform this service are: Merchant Site Inspections Network
(800) 687-1981 and Property Resource Network, Inc., (800)
676-1422.
Thanks for
visiting The Green Sheet on-line.

Selling!

Have you scheduled
any seminars in New Jersey for this year?

Dear Online
Reader:
The Green Sheet is
not scheduling seminars at this time. These events were expensive to
host and we did not receive the level of support we had anticipated.
During 1999, our plan is to build support for the ISO Forums, with an
anticipated launch date in late 1999 or early 2000. If you are
interested in attending or presenting at The Green Sheet ISO Forums
in the new millennium, please write to us. We are interested in
hearing from you. Give us your ideas on topics, locations, and
presenters. Please send your thoughts on the Forums to greensheet@greensheet.com
or fax your comments to (707) 586-1738.
