IVI
Checks Fraud
Check fraud and PIN
identification devices, originally developed for the POS, can now be
used by banks to reduce fraud, thanks to a united effort by IVI
Checkmate Corporation (see issue 98:02:02) and MORE,
Inc.
"The IVI Checkmate
terminal interfaces with the MORETeller System and provides an
exciting new and affordable alternative for community banks to
increase efficiency while reducing check fraud," said Steve
McCampbell, president and chief executive officer of MORE, Inc. "It
brings big-bank technology within the reach of even the smallest
institution."
MORE Inc.'s MORETeller
is a Windows-based solution designed for teller transaction
processing and management. It interfaces with two IVI Checkmate
products, eN-CHECK check reader and the eN-CRYPT 2100 terminal. The
eN-CHECK 430 check reader reads the MICR line on all checks,
detecting potentially fraudulent ones while speeding processing time.
It determines if the MICR line is laser printed properly and if the
routing numbers are valid for "on-us" checks.
Information also can be
used to:
1. reduce the need for
MICR entry by proof operators,
2. link to more
extensive check fraud database applications,
3. facilitate
cross-selling activities at the teller line.
