Drug stores are the place to be, for processors, that is. BUYPASS has just signed an exclusive multi-year contract with Rite Aid for debit and Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) processing. At the same time, Midwest Payment Systems (MPS) has secured an agreement with Eckerd drugstores.
MPS will provide debit and EBT services to Eckerd's 2,700 stores and BUYPASS will process POS transactions for 3,960 Rite Aid stores.
"We have an excellent relationship with BUYPASS and especially like their customer focus and expertise in providing processing services to the retail industry," said Don Shellenberger, director of revenue accounting for Rite Aid.
Eckerd VP John Simons said, "Eckerd needs a reliable processor who could provide debit and EBT services. MPS offers us a single processing source, and, as it is certified with every regional and national debit network as well as the three major third-party EBT providers (Citibank, Deluxe and Transactive), MPS was the logical choice."
