VeriFone has released a
new terminal, the OMNI 1460. The terminal has an integrated smart
card reader, mag stripe reader, electronic signature capture, and PIN
pad. It also can be upgraded for smart card-based, loyalty, and
stored-value card transactions.
The terminal supports
credit, debit, loyalty, and electronic benefits applications for mag
stripe cards and smart cards. It is also designed to integrate with
electronic cash registers or operate as a stand-beside terminal in a
LAN environment.
The OMNI 1460 is
designed with a hard writing surface in case customers use the wrong
writing utensil, such as a pen or pencil. (We've all been at the POS
and seen the signature pad with ball point pen all over it, and dents
in the signature area from people using pens and pencils on the
area.)
