Data
Sharing
NPC Check Services and
Deluxe Payment Protection Systems, Inc., (the company that provides
the Shared Check Authorization Network) have announced an agreement
to share point-of-sale information.
SCAN, the most widely
accessed check verification network, provides point-of-sale,
return-item management and collections services to retailers and
supermarkets. NPC provides customized, full service check management
programs, including traditional verification and guarantee, check
truncation, return-check processing, and collection services to
merchants throughout North America. Together, the two will amass
bad-check information from more than 166,000 retail
locations.
From an operating
point-of-view, this will now give NPC Check Service thousands of new
reasons to decline a check. Keeping in mind that CrossCheck, Inc.,
has a new program called Plus Sales that has been selling guarantee
of TeleCheck and Equifax declines, it would appear that this data
sharing announcement will add one more candidate to the list of
companies whose decline level can create many new selling
opportunities for CrossCheck.
NPC, a subsidiary of
National Processing, Inc., can be found on the Web at
http://www.npc.net. Approximately 88 percent of National Processing,
Inc., is owned by National City Corporation. Deluxe Payment
Protection Systems, Inc., is a subsidiary of Deluxe
Corporation.
