National City and First of America Merge

 

National City Corp., the Ohio-based mega bank, and Michigan-based First of America are merging through a multi-billion dollar stock swap scheduled to be completed in April. Both organizations are processing their card issuing through First Data Corp., and it remains to be seen if the First of America merchant acquiring accounts will be merged with National Cityís publicly traded subsidiary National Processing Company.
