Advanced Check Cashing at ATMs
In a recent issue we told you about ATMs which print a copy of the
check deposited on the ATM receipt (97:06:02, "Checks at ATMs?").
Now, there's another ATM that displays an image of the check on the
screen so the user can verify the amount. Summit Bank of Princeton,
NJ has plans to print the check image.
The Summit Bank ATMs are currently in 25 supermarket branches and
offer expanded services and enhanced deposit capability. For example,
they accept checks without envelopes, and within the year they will
allow consumers to get cash back for a portion of their check while
depositing the remainder. The only catch is that the ATM can only
dispense up to the limit of the machine or what you have in your
account, whichever is lesser.
