A Thing Paying For Car Repairs
Paying For Car Repairs

Police are searching for a Gary Indiana resident who allegedly (I always love this word) drove off without paying for more than $800 in repairs to a vehicle, repaired by Montgomery Ward, said Det. Sgt. Tim Wardrip.

The event took place at a Montgomery Ward Auto Center on Thursday June 6, 1996. According to the police a woman, who has not been found, wrote a check and then drove off with the car before the store manager called the bank and found out that there was not enough money in the account to cover the check.

The moral of this story, of course, is to be sure the check is good before releasing the vehicle. But the sales tip is that many times a merchant believes current check procedures are perfectly adequate for their situation.

Check Guarantee would have been a solution, for this repair shop, and a multiple check courtesy could help other consumers who do not have enough money immediately to have unexpected repair work done.
