Free Security Test, for Internet Transactions
Open Market Inc., a small, privately-held company, said Monday it will give away software that checks Web browsers for security problems.
The free software and testing services will be available from Open Market's Web site (
http://www.openmarket.com) beginning Tuesday.
The software can check about 800 different versions of Web browsing software, including older versions of Netscape Communications Corp.'s Netscape Navigator, which was found in September by several hackers to have some security problems.
