Looking For a Few Good ISOs
hese days, America's military recruiters offer everything from advanced technology training to trips to some of the world's most exotic locations. There is a similar movement in today's ISO market. Companies that provide outsource product and services are actively seeking to add qualified ISOs to their ranks.
An example is United Capturdyne Technologies.
Founded in 1990, UCT specializes in custom non-cash payment solutions. Its CEO, Jeff Korbin comes from a merchant-bankcard background and saw the need for programs to handle all types of POS interface. So Korbin designed a parsing engine that can take on any system, and he created a third-party vertical remarketer and systems integrator of customized software solutions.
The foundation for UCT technology is based on two processing engines: AccountMax and TransMax.
A full-scale facilities management tool, Account Management (AccountMax) can handle anything from mortgage loans, bad-check management, frequent shopper, loyalty, cash cards, credit approval, credit reporting to whatever UCT's time event methodology can benefit.
Custom Transaction Processing (TransMax) can perform total custom POS transaction processing (all non-bankcard activity). Custom cards, fleet cards, check verification, check conversion - any transaction type can be modified on the fly to meet specific needs.
What sets UCT apart besides its name - Korbin took inspiration from the words "capture" and "dynamic" to form "Capturdyne" - is its ability to take these two engines and combine them to create a variety of transaction-processing solutions.
UCT can engage any cash register, any POS software. No modification needs to be done at the POS level. UCT does all modifications at the host level. Existing terminals require no change in hardware or software. All that is needed is a dial-up to UCT headquarters.
Many companies claim to be the superpower in their particular class, but UCT backs up its claim with powerful ammunition. It supports all of the following: Verifone (all standard, Omnihost, etc.), Dassault, Hypercom (all terminals), Checkmate, IVI, Nurit (all terminals, including ATM), IC Verify, Atomic Software, GO Software, NCR (including ScanMaster and Gemstar), Micros, Fujitsu, Panasonic, ICL, Sable, IBM (468X Models).
UCT allows for multiple-processing requirement development on the same platform. It intertwines proprietary interchanges, phone card activation, frequent shopper, debit down and country club billing in the same program. Consider the operational issues UCT can accommodate: plastics, due diligence, file maintenance, voice authorization (24/7), customer service (24/7), lock box service, ACH credit and debit origination and settlement, third-party statement and invoice generation, third-party billing and receivables management, proprietary interchanges and funds settlement (including foreign currency), mail-outs and direct mail marketing, data mining.
UCT also provides custom call-center support and is a remarketer of eFunds - as in non-standard services, high-risk ECH authorizations, recurring billing, etc. UCT also writes the machine-to-machine interface to eFunds for its customers.
Whatever the layout, UCT promises it can get it done and be cost effective and timely. "Give me the layout - we can modify it," Korbin says.
Once the specs are received, Korbin says UCT can deliver in minutes what other organizations take weeks to accomplish - and at much less the price. UCT declares there are no limitations - only one's imagination.
Why should ISOs sign up with UCT for a tour of duty? Armed with the UCT arsenal of services, ISOs can offer totally customized solutions and have the ability to up-sell with services they might not have been able to offer before.
UCT also is not averse to selling its secrets. Korbin explains, "We can provide all the cans and strings for merchants to do it themselves. You can start with us. And when you're ready, we'll sell it to you in-house."
But, beware, desperate ISOs need not apply. Korbin stresses that UCT is looking for ISOs with realistic expectations who won't oversell UCT - unrealistic promises only weaken the strength of UCT's program. Make sure you can handle the truth!
Korbin says UCT has gotten a 100 percent approval rating from its signees. That translates into profits. UCT is making money.
Located in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., UCT has a 12-person staff that is expected to expand rapidly. For a look at UCT's operations, tour its Web site at www.capturedyne.com
UCT welcomes challenges. It is built to handle the different, the unique. As Korbin says, "Before you tell your customer you can't do it, call us!"
