Online Resources

W e are always looking for new ways to help ISOs with the resources they need to operate small businesses in these complex times. It is sometimes overwhelming to find all the resources that business owners need to compete with larger businesses, or for that matter to comply with the latest rules.

With all of this said, we have compiled a number of resources that we hope will be of help. General information that can very useful can be found at www.babson.edu/entrep/fer/index.html. This site is a massive index of research on entrepreneurship. It will help you find hard to find facts and addresses, business development information, operations, ethics and business philosophy and if you are expecting to borrow money for your business at some point, you can expect to be asked for a business plan.

Check out www.bplans.com/start.cfm, which will allow you to see businesses give you examples of what others have done, look at plans for similar plans, or even create a mini-business plan right on line.

We receive a wide variety of questions that are specific to our industry, and we really do love to hear from you. If you are looking for my sense about things or simply wish to rave or rant about our efforts at The Green Sheet, I love to get your mail at greensht@aol.com. (My personal e-mail address.) If you want industry-specific research and don't know where to turn, we are more than willing to try to hunt down your answers. Questions can be sent to grnsht@pacbell.net, and we will do our best to get you an answer or help to get you in touch with an expert that we believe will have the answer you are looking for. Don't forget to check our FAQs on The Green Sheet On-line at www.greensheet.com.

Another general resource site that may be helpful to you is www.bizvida.com. This site provides access to many periodicals and a database of information derived from newspapers, journals, magazines, and news feeds. Like The Green Sheet On-line Web site, they go back quite a ways, in many cases as far back as 1986.

If you need professional help to research potential clients or competitors, this site may be just the ticket. The site is a great self-help resource, but if you just don't have the time to do it yourself, the site LIVEassistants (cute term) can help to find the data you are looking for. Good hunting!
