Call for Nominations

NACHA--The Electronic Payments Association is accepting nominations for the 2001 George Mitchell Payments System Excellence Award. Each year, NACHA presents the award to an individual, company or other organization that has demonstrated superior leadership in the development, implementation or advancement of electronic payments. The award is named in honor of the late George Mitchell, former vice-chairman of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors. Nominations will be accepted until March 23, 2001, and the winners will be recognized on Tuesday, April 24, 2001 at NACHA's PAYMENTS 2001 conference in Washington, D.C.

"The George Mitchell Payments System Excellence Award is a prestigious industry award, honoring those who have made lasting contributions to improve the payments system," said Barbara Tatum, Vice President, Service Management at Visa, which is sponsoring the awards program at PAYMENTS 2001. "We are proud to be sponsors of this important recognition ceremony."

Last year, NACHA presented the Mitchell Award to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for electronically collecting 100 % of payments from mortgage originators applying for FHA loan guarantees, and Paychex, Inc., for its success in providing Direct Deposit and other electronic payment services to small businesses. Any individual, company or organization that has initiated, developed or supported advances in electronic payments is eligible for the Mitchell Award. For more information, contact Robin Reeder of NACHA, at (703) 561-1100 or rreeder@nacha.org, or visit NACHA's Web site at www.nacha.org to download the nomination form.
