No Get out of Jail Free Card, Though

Debitek, a subsidiary of IVI Checkmate Corp., has introduced the MoneyClip solution for correctional facilities. The MoneyClip solution is a smart card-based solution that is designed specifically for the needs of the correctional market. Debitek has over 250 electronic cash systems using magnetic stripe technology installed in the corrections market, including all United States Federal Bureau of Prisons facilities.

The MoneyClip solution combines Debitek's correctional system experience and smart card technology expertise to provide a comprehensive solution that eliminates cash contraband. The company reports that correctional facilities that have integrated a Debitek system into their daily operations have found that an electronic cash solution reduces gambling, theft, purchases of illegal substances and banned items.

The Debitek MoneyClip solution has successfully replaced cash with electronic cash in the inmate vending and dining areas, officer and staff vending and dining areas, visitor rooms, copier rooms and laundry rooms. The Debitek

MoneyClip solution also features an Automatic Voucher machine, which allows inmates to purchase a printed voucher with a stored value card to redeem that voucher for special services (such as a family photo on visitation day, or sporting events). The Automatic Voucher feature was designed for the Federal Bureau of Prisons, but is available to other correctional facilities as well.

Larry Hauser, vice president and general manager of Debitek stated, "The MoneyClip solution is the next step in electronic cash. The smart card-based solution provides immediate benefit to correctional facilities that have not implemented cashless systems and those that want to upgrade their current magnetic stripe-based system to smart card technology."

Debitek has been providing innovative electronic cash systems for academic institutions, correctional facilities, corporate campuses, hospitals, laundries and libraries for 14 years. For more information on Debitek, visit its Web site at www.debitek.com.
