Tranz models. We've seen a huge demand for the Omni 3200 terminals, said
Paul R. Garcia, chief executive officer at NDC eCommerce. They're easy to
sell to merchants because they make the transaction process so simple with
the ATM-style graphical interface and SoftPay software. There
may be a few reasons for the Omni's success. First, the installation: plug
it into an outlet and connect the phone line. If you're thinking "Sure,
but what about the printer"-it's covered. The thermal printer is
integrated-no cables. Simplified
training and maintenance might be another reason. "The easy to use
ATM style interface has helped reduce our training and lower calls to the
help desk," said Mark Pyke, executive vice president at NPC. Paper
jams are less likely since there is no ribbon. Finally,
it might be the software that is fueling the rapid sales. SoftPay allows
merchants to customize payment requirements to their needs. Merchants can
choose from more than 100 configurable software options." We can
customize the SoftPay software to meet our merchants' needs, and the
integrated parts of the Omni 3200 mean less breakage and repair,"
said Pyke.
