Letter from the editors



                 rom time to time we ask members of  The
                 Green Sheet Advisory Board to weigh in on
                 current issues, concerns and challenges in
        F the ever-evolving payments industry. Most
        recently we asked them a series of questions about
        what is required for ISOs, merchant level salespeople,
        and equipment, software and systems providers to
        succeed ‒ no longer just as payment services provid-
        ers, but as business consultants who offer a host of
        integrated business services tailored to specific mer-
        chant needs. We asked Advisory Board members to
        delve into essential tools the various types of payment
        professionals must have, as well as the qualities each
        one must bring to the table.
        This issue's lead article presents the first portion of
        responses this group of dedicated industry leaders
        provided. The rest of the replies will appear in an
        upcoming issue of  The  Green  Sheet. Advisory  Board
        members spoke not only of challenges, but also of
        the tremendous opportunities available to those
        willing to exploit them. Opportunities can be found in
        establishing partnerships with independent software
        vendors; providing effective assistance with EMV
        implementation; offering integrated POS systems;
        providing business intelligence and payment security
        products and expertise; tailoring products and services
        to serve specific market verticals; and much more.

        in the faster payments arena; finding a happy medium
