Single, comprehensive infrastructure for acquiring

T ransaction Services LLC (TrxServices), established in 2010, created an enterprise-scale technology suite designed to foster growth and improve efficiencies for merchants and merchant acquirers. Headquartered in Newark, Del., with offices in Denver, the company's mission is to enhance processing infrastructure and the end-user experience across the entire merchant lifecycle. "Technology has always been the core of what we do," said TrxServices founder and President David Leppek. "We developed an infrastructure that's invisible to consumers, with a central host to monitor risk, board new accounts and fully automate residual payments and reporting."

When he ran the third-party ISO division at First National Merchant Services, Leppek said, 40 analysts monitored payment card interchange every day, "using spreadsheets and doing what computers were made to do." When FNMS was sold to TSYS in 2010, Leppek decided to design a company with an ideal working environment. "Technology is the cornerstone of our business and enables us to be nimble and adaptable," said David Oyler, Vice President of Risk Management at TrxServices. TrxServices stated it provides a range of customized products and services to each merchant according to the merchant's specific requirements and industries, as follows:

Automated surcharging solution

TrxServices continually updates its knowledge on evolving rules and regulations regarding merchants' ability to surcharge, which varies by state. This information has been fully integrated into its gateway, enabling participating merchants to fully comply with surcharging guidelines and protocol, Leppek stated. The TrxServices processing host determines the payment card type and sends that information back to the POS, Leppek said. If the payment method qualifies for surcharging, the required line items and disclaimers will automatically appear on the cardholder's receipt. Company representatives work with merchants to ensure that they post appropriate signage in accordance with card brand surcharging guidelines. When TrxServices merchants register for the surcharging program, the company sends their information to Visa and Mastercard to confirm that the right notifications and settings are in place.
