Solutions for every aspect of electronic payment processing

The changing payments landscape is creating tremendous challenges for market players. Consumers are demanding more, yet paying less; regulators are challenging profits earned; new competitors are cherry-picking sections of the market; and the pace of technology change is accelerating.

Modern, high performance, reliable and secure payment infrastructures can help turn these challenges into opportunities. However, to capitalize on opportunities and to beat the competition, a payment solution must deliver business agility. That's what SmartVista from BPC Banking Technologies is designed to do: help payment professionals beat the competition.

Combining technology, expertise

BPC was founded on the belief that the right combination of innovative technology and deep expertise can generate outstanding business results. The company stated its flagship payment solution, SmartVista, is built on this foundation.

SmartVista is a scalable, secure and integrated suite of sophisticated applications covering every aspect of electronic payment processing that helps organizations deliver outstanding service to their customers, according to BPC.

"Using a visionary design to deliver unrivalled flexibility, SmartVista provides high performance authorization switching and routing, full ATM and POS management, comprehensive card management, advanced fraud prevention, loyalty program definition and management, card personalization and production," said Marc Solomon, BPC Managing Director.

He added that SmartVista also provides flexible billing and merchant management, as well as integrated Internet and mobile banking. The solution supports a full range of Europay/MasterCard/Visa and mag stripe cards, including credit, debit, prepaid, gift, corporate, instant issue, virtual, contactless, loyalty cards and more, he noted. "SmartVista is a comprehensive solution that handles virtually every requirement straight out of the box," Solomon said. "Due to its unique design, SmartVista can be rapidly tailored to meet unique needs without resorting to complex, time consuming and costly software development projects."

Developing cutting-edge products

At the heart of most changes in the payments industry are new products and services. BPC stated that's why SmartVista uses profiles and attributes to rapidly assemble new products. "With SmartVista it is possible to create and launch a new product in a matter of days, and it can be done without requiring software development," Solomon said. "Not only does SmartVista handle tomorrow's payment challenges today, but it does so with unmatched speed and ease-of-use."

To address the crucially important areas of security, reliability and performance, SmartVista comes with a robust, Payment Card Industry Payment Application-Data Security Standard-validated security framework, BPC pointed out. In addition, proof of reliability is best demonstrated by real-world operations. "SmartVista excels at reliability and performance as exemplified by a customer use case processing at 1,500 transactions per second across a network of 50,000 ATMs and 500,000 POS devices," Solomon said.

BPC's relentless focus on customer success has been rewarded by a 1,300 percent growth in customers in the last 11 years, the company reported, adding that it helps 120 of the world's most innovative financial institutions in 40 countries deliver market leading products and services to more than 150 million cardholders.

Taking advantage of SmartVista

Following are examples BPC cited of how its customers are using SmartVista to "lead the market":

  • Banca Transilvania in Romania launched a product linking its ATM network to Western Union’s agent network, making it possible to conduct transfers between the bank’s ATMs and Western Union’s agents. Banca Transilvania was first in the world with this capability.
  • A BPC client linked its ATM network to its customers’ mobile phones, enabling recurring payments by simple short message service (SMS) messages to meet customer needs.
  • Another BPC client launched a new service to tap into the growing prepaid card market. To ensure costs were kept to an absolute minimum, cards were issued from the client's ATM network, with the virtual card details printed on receipts or sent via SMS.
