An ATM Card That Can Do More
U
niPayCard Universal ATM Universal ATM has introduced a new open-platform, private-label, stored-value ATM debit card issuing program with multiple services. Companies can now issue their own ATM cards for funds distribution, retail distribution, payroll, funds transfer, the unbanked and P2P payments. The UniPayCard also presents a number of cross-selling opportunities.
The UniPayCard Network makes the bank and processor one in the same. The UniPayCard features a direct-to-bank open-architecture platform for issuing private-label ATM cards with Extensible Markup Language (XML). The processing software resides on the banks' own servers, allowing the bank to serve as the processor. The program includes fully automated merchant account replenishment of distributed funds.
Laptops, PCs and PDAs with secure Internet connections will allow customers to perform card-management functions thanks to the open architecture and nonproprietary nature. This means that a company using the UniPayCard to provide payroll services can enhance the cards by adding payday loan services or prepaid phone and cell time. The UniPay Network offers online tools, which lets companies integrate the new system within weeks, not months.
Universal's program allows companies to cross-sell a variety of services through its network of members. Merchant acquirers can add credit/debit, check guarantee and truncation services, money transfer and ID verification to the UniPayCard. The card adds activation software to existing point-of-sale activation terminals for phonecard providers. The UniPayCard can be used to transfer money domestically and internationally. Employers are only beginning to utilize pay cards, including the UniPayCard, to effectively transfer funds to their employees.
Payroll vendors can use the card to streamline accounting and funds distribution as well as pass benefits on to their clients. Paycheck-cashing merchants can give UniPayCards to their customers instead of handing over large amounts of cash.
