MPC 2020 will reflect expanding digital commerce.

The future of mobile and digital commerce is the theme of the fourteenth annual Mobile Payments Conference, to be held Aug. 26 to 28, 2020 at Chicago’s Swissotel. While the official agenda will be published in March 2020, event organizers mentioned that popular topics will include security, emerging technologies, cryptocurrencies and digital wallets. They additionally expect a variety of approaches to improving the digital commerce experience.

"Last year's MPC examined the future from a variety of perspectives," said Marla Ellerman, executive director of the Mobile Payments Conference. "This year we're saying, 'the future is here.'" Leaders from financial institutions, big tech and mobile apps will share future-themed insights in keynote presentations, breakout sessions and panel discussions throughout the impactful 2-day event, Ellerman added.

Awards, rewards

Aite Group will reprise the Digital Wallet Innovation Awards, honoring contest finalists in the following five categories: customer experience, merchant experience, product design, value-added services, and market adoption. Thad Peterson, senior analyst with Aite Group, observed that digital wallets are leading an explosion of innovation across the payments ecosystem, stating, "it's great to have an opportunity to recognize the leaders of this revolution."

The MPC Visionary Award, an award series sponsored by The Green Sheet, will honor "game-changers" that push the payments industry forward.

Additional presentations and panel discussions will be announced.
